Selling my self-built Space Marine armor from Warhammer 40,000.
This armor was built for NärCon, where it was entered in the Novice Cosplay Competition. It was my first major cosplay project and served as a huge learning experience. While I'm proud of what I accomplished, I no longer have the space to store it and realistically won't have the opportunity to wear it again for several years.
The armor is constructed primarily from EVA foam and was designed to replicate the proportions of a Firstborn Space Marine rather than normal human proportions. Total weight is approximately 15 kg (33 lbs).
The armor should fit someone roughly between 176–184 cm (5'9"–6'0"), depending on build.
Included
Complete Space Marine armor
Helmet
Integrated forearms and gloves
Shoulder pauldrons
Chest and back armor
Belt and leg armor
Boots
Fur details
Unfinished Relic Greataxe prop (correct scale and shape, frame/skeleton only)
Construction
The armor is fully modular and can be disassembled into separate pieces for transport and storage.
The torso rests on the wearer's shoulders, while the remaining components are suspended using elastic straps, harnesses, and quick-release buckles. Individual sections can be detached separately, including the boots and chin piece.
Strengths
Impressive size and presence
Near scale-accurate Firstborn Space Marine proportions
Fully wearable
Modular construction
Relatively lightweight for its size
Good foundation for upgrades and refinements
Has already been worn successfully at a convention
Includes all armor pieces and accessories associated with the project
Important Notes
This is not a professional-level cosplay. It was my first large armor build and should be viewed as an ambitious beginner project with room for improvement.
Known issues include:
Visible seams in multiple areas
Some asymmetry and uneven surfaces
Paint scheme is not fully chapter-accurate
Armor has not been clear coated or varnished
Paint wear and rubbing has occurred in some places
Several parts became slightly warped during transportation after NärCon
Some components could benefit from re-gluing or reinforcement
General dirt, dust, and gravel residue from use and storage
Weathering looks convincing from a distance but is less convincing upon close inspection
No undersuit is included, meaning armor gaps remain visible
Helmet has limited visibility and is quite claustrophobic
No active ventilation or cooling system installed
Breathing inside the helmet can be somewhat restrictive
Rainwater can collect in the collar area directly in front of the face
Boots are large, heavy, and not particularly comfortable for extended wear
The greataxe is currently only a frame/skeleton and would need to be completed
Overall, the armor clearly reflects a first-time builder's work. If I were to rebuild it today, I would approach many aspects differently. However, it remains a solid foundation and an eye-catching convention piece.
Who Is This For?
This armor is ideal for:
A Warhammer 40k fan looking for a large display piece
A cosplayer who wants a strong base to improve rather than starting from scratch
Someone interested in repainting, upgrading, or converting the armor into a different Chapter
A builder who appreciates the amount of work already invested in creating near scale-accurate Space Marine proportions
Building a new suit from scratch would likely require well over 150–300 hours of work.
